FlowKeys Terms of Use

Effective date: the date FlowKeys paid plans launch

These terms cover your use of FlowKeys, a macOS app we distribute directly (not through the Mac App Store), and of the online services it uses for dictation and AI features. "We" and "us" mean the developer of FlowKeys. By downloading or using FlowKeys, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

1. The app and the service

FlowKeys runs on your Mac. Dictation, dictation polish and rewrites need an internet connection and use our online service, which relies on third-party providers. Our Privacy Policy explains exactly what is sent to each provider.

2. Accounts, plans and payment

Account. FlowKeys asks you to sign in (with Google or an email link) the first time you open it. Your account holds your plan and usage allowance. Keep access to your sign-in method secure; you're responsible for activity on your account.

Plans.

• Free: 2,000 dictated words per week, 10 rewrites per day. Weeks reset Monday 00:00 UTC.
• Pro: $15 per month or $144 per year. Unlimited dictation, 200 rewrites per day.
• Lifetime: a one-time payment ($199 for the first 500 buyers, then $399) for Pro features with a fair-use allowance of 50,000 dictated words per week, for as long as we operate the service.
• Trial: new accounts get 7 days of Pro. No card is needed and nothing is charged when it ends; the account moves to Free.

How words are counted. Dictation is measured by recording time at 150 words per minute, so 2,000 words is about 13 minutes of dictation audio, pauses included. The words in text you send for a rewrite count toward the same weekly allowance. The Lifetime allowance is counted the same way. FlowKeys → Settings → Account shows how much you've used this week.

Paid and trial plans also have unpublished daily safety limits that stop abuse and runaway use; ordinary use won't reach them. We may change limits or prices for future periods; we'll tell you before a change affects a plan you've already paid for.

Payment. Purchases are sold by Paddle.com, our reseller and merchant of record. Paddle processes the payment, handles tax and issues your receipt, under its buyer terms (paddle.com/legal/buyer-terms). Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in FlowKeys → Settings → Account → Manage; you keep Pro until the end of the paid period.

Refunds. You can get a full refund within 14 days of a purchase. See the Refund Policy.

3. Acceptable use

Please don't:

• misuse the service, for example by trying to get around the usage limits, overloading it, reverse-engineering its server, or using it to reach our providers outside the app;
• use FlowKeys to break the law or to infringe anyone else's rights;
• dictate or send other people's personal information unless you're allowed to.

We may suspend accounts, installs or IP addresses that abuse the service.

4. Your content

What you type, dictate and rewrite belongs to you. You permit us, and the providers named in the Privacy Policy, to process it only as needed to provide the features you use. Transcriptions and AI output can be wrong, so check them before relying on them, especially in medical, legal, financial or safety-critical situations.

5. Our software

We own FlowKeys and its software. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use it on Macs you own or control. Please don't redistribute, sell or modify the app unless we give you permission.

6. No warranty

FlowKeys is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don't promise that it will be error-free or always available, or that its online features will stay the same.

7. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for any loss of data or profits, arising from your use of FlowKeys. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for FlowKeys in the 12 months before the claim. If you're on the Free plan, that amount is zero. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under consumer-protection laws that can't be excluded.

8. Ending use

You can stop using FlowKeys at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or end access to the online features, for everyone or for a particular account, especially in cases of abuse. If we stop operating the service, we'll refund the unused part of any prepaid subscription period; Lifetime purchases made in the 12 months before we stop are refunded pro rata over 12 months.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. When we do, we'll post the new version and change the effective date above. If you keep using FlowKeys after that, you're accepting the updated terms.
